Lee Hyun Joung

Born in South Korea, Lee Hyun Joung is now living and working in Paris, France. She graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sejong University in Seoul and has since earned a degree from a jewellery school in Paris. Her pieces of art, she calls her ‘paths’ give insight into her multicultured background and her childhood. Korean inks are her media of choice, usually painting on her self-made Hanji, a traditional handmade Korean paper, created using the inner bark of the Paper Mulberry tree. Sometimes enriching her paintings with her savoir-faire of metalwork. However, most important in her works is not her techniques but what lies behind her paintings. Her ‘paths’ imitate life’s paths, an invitation to travel and to explore spiritually. She has numerous exhibitions in Europe, South Korea, and China.
